* Length of stay varies and is determined by your
progress in meeting treatment goals and by your
ability to use newly learned recovery skills in
day-to-day interpersonal relations.
Outpatient Services
As part of your programming, we may step you down
to the outpatient program as a continuation of your
development of recovery and life skills, including
relapse prevention. An individualized treatment plan
will be developed to address your specific recovery
needs. Patients participate in a variety of groups and
individual counseling sessions while in outpatient care.
Psychiatric & assessment services
An alcohol and drug use assessment is performed
by a licensed professional who will assess specific
addiction issues, mental health, gender, physical health,
home environment, level of social development and
environmental issues. We don't focus on addiction in
isolation. In-person assessments determine whether
treatment services are recommended and, if so, what
type.
Group therapy
Group therapy is facilitated by an addiction counselor
and is designed to help patients work on various
issues. You will be asked to share your personal story
with peers and to complete other treatment plan
assignments. These sessions allow you to explore issues
in greater depth and to receive feedback and support for
your recovery.
Individual counseling
You will be assigned an addiction counselor who will
work closely with you on a weekly basis. You will
formulate a treatment plan together and review your
progress during your individual sessions.
Mental health
Mental health is an important part of recovery. You
will take a short mental health screening prior to
beginning treatment. Patients indicating an immediate,
non-urgent, mental health need may be referred to an
outside provider or may be scheduled for services with
a Betty Ford Center provider.

What to Expect
The following expectations and responsibilities are
designed to ensure your health, safety and recovery
as well as that of the entire treatment group. You are
strongly encouraged to become thoroughly acquainted
with these expectations.
* Arrive on time and remain until the end. Should
something unexpected arise that will make you either
late or unable to attend on a given day, call your
counselor before group starts.
* Participate fully in all aspects of treatment. Offer
feedback and support to peers. Follow through on
contracts with your counselor.
* Attend a minimum of one Twelve Step meeting a
week.
* Work with your counselor to determine when you
should begin looking for a sponsor.
* Abstain from all gambling activities and games of
chance.
* Don't lend money or personal property to peers.
* Avoid restaurants that serve alcohol.
* Don't use nicotine products of any kind at the Betty
Ford Center campus.
* Submit to random drug and/or alcohol screening
throughout your treatment program. Drug and/or
alcohol screens are an additional charge. Be aware
that refusal to provide a drug and/or alcohol screen
will affect good standing in the program. Refusing to
take a screening may be cause for discharge.
