New Ways in Cognitive Therapy

Cognitive therapy has evolved over the years and has many features appealing to
therapists from a psycho-dynamic or behavioral perspective. This talk will discuss
a recent evolution to cognitive therapy called Recovery Oriented Cognitive
Therapy (CT-R) that maintains a holistic and humanistic focus. Specifically,
this treatment emphasizes action, experiential learning, and a concentration
on activating individual's assets and strengths. Strategies within CT-R will be
discussed, including eliciting individual's aspirations, drawing meaningful
conclusions and energizing positive effect. While this approach was originally
created for and utilized with inpatients diagnosed with severe mental health
conditions, it is now being applied to other conditions in outpatient settings.

Technology Meets Couples Therapy

This session will review a large scale assessment study with 65,000 couples
(Heterosexual, Gay, and Lesbian). The Gottmans will present new technology
developed for couples and therapists. This technology is for use in a therapist's
office, or for seamless HIPAA-compliant tele-therapy. The new technology includes
the comprehensive online assessment of a couple relationship using the validated
Gottman Relationship Checkup questionnaires, coupled with the "Gottman
Love Lab", and assessing emotional qualities of a couples two live interactions
with physiology measurements (using pulse oximeters, smart watches, etc.), a
comprehensive automated Therapist Report and a Couples Report along with the
Relationship Builder modules good for in-office and home use.

us learn to listen.

Agency and Positive Psychology

Join the father of Positive Psychology in this session as we explore the world
history of Agency and its relation to the past, present, and future of Positive
Psychology, Positive Education, and Positive Psychotherapy. Highlighted
concepts will include PERMA, Causal Intervention, Well-Being, Future
Mindedness, Learned Optimism, and Learned Helplessness, among others. How
are the Age of Progress and Positive Psychology related? What possibilities could
arise from effectively using Positive Psychology in overcoming personal and
global challenges? Attendees will be able to define, understand, and potentially
implement Positive Psychology in their professional setting.
