Reform in the prior authorization process would streamline healthcare delivery resulting in decreased cost and yielding more timely diagnosis and treatment for our patients. This will require action by the legislature and the governor. If not for PAMED and the Bucks CMS, as part of a coalition with specialty societies and patient advocacy groups, who would fight for our patients and our ability to deliver their healthcare? Who would fight the " non doers " who are constantly telling us who are " doers " how to practice medicine? Finally, looking at the long term, what is the legacy we will pass on to those who come after us? I believe that on many levels there is an attempt to brainwash physicians into believing that we are providers. This is done to dominate us. When I finished 26th grade with a specialty in Cardiology, inside me was an understanding that this is not just a " job " . We are professionals, not providers. We earned that right and must push back on the " non doers " who want us to accept the provider status. Vertical integration of healthcare has made physicians more vulnerable to " non doers " . If private practice were to become not viable then where would vertically integrated employed physicians go if they feel their patients' care is compromised by their employer. The next generation is being taught to see themselves as providers, which is why the Bucks CMS must help our resident members understand their worth. We will actively engage the increasing number of physicians in residency programs in Bucks County to initiate this process. We continue to greatly appreciate those who support us through your membership. We intend to earn that trust as the Bucks CMS has in the past as we move forward through challenging times ahead.
