The sense of fulfillment I gain through
art is, in no small part, attributable to
the medical school I attend. PSUCOM
encourages its students and faculty to pursue the arts and recognizes the profound
connection between the humanities and
medicine. In fact, PSUCOM established
the nation's first humanities department in
a medical college and continues a tradition
of supporting the humanities through
funding and recognition of student and
faculty art. For me art has always been
something I did to have fun and relieve
stress, but what has become increasingly
evident is the role it has played in my
professional development and success
during medical school.
