IN REMEMBERANCE

BERNARD M. MARGOLIS

1931 - 2018

B

ernard M. Margolis (also known as
Dr. Barney) died peacefully at home
on February 7, 2018, surrounded in
love by his family. Barney was born
on December 13th, 1931 in Philadelphia, PA
to the late Betty (Abrams) and Leon Margolis
and grew up with his best friend - his sister
Barbara Gerstein, 15 months his junior.

Army, Dr. Barney enjoyed 35 years practicing
pediatrics in Harrisburg, PA where he was
devoted to his patients and took great joy in
caring for the babies of his babies. He was
proud to serve as the President of Dauphin
County Medical Society and was a member of
the Susquehanna Township Board of Health
for 23 years.

His greatest love was his bride of 60 years,
Rae (nee Fradkin). And, he couldn't have been
more proud of his 4 children, Lynn, Paula
(Rosen), Hank and Elissa. He found great joy
in his 4th daughter - daughter-in-law Amy,
and was beloved by his grandchildren Erin,
David, Ian, Caroline, Jack and Matthew. He
was a loving and supporting father-in-law to
Michael Rosen and so appreciative for the care
received by Paula's partner, Richard Newman.

In addition to his family, Barney's other
great love was his 34 year membership in the
Keystone Capital Chorus and his barbershop
quartet, Gents Nite out.

In retirement, Barney enjoyed baking bread,
reading to the blind and packing meals for
Meals on Wheels.
Donations may be made in his honor to Beth
El Temple, Homeland Hospice of Harrisburg
or to an organization of one's choice.
