he Delaware County Bar Association's
Community Outreach Committee
hosted a Legal Virtual Event on
November 17, 2020, which served as a free
informational resource for veterans and their
families. The program focused on Veterans
and Military Affairs; Benefits for Veterans,
their families and survivors; legal services
and other resources available; and how we,
together, celebrate the courage and sacrifice of
our heroes in 2020.
With a vision of Education, Honor and
Remembrance, this presentation was offered
by a distinguished panel including: Robert
A. McMahon, Jr., United States Army, Mayor
of Media; Chari M. Alson, Esq., CELA,
Co-Editor, 2020 Elder Law Handbook &
Resource Guide; Jennifer R. Morrell, Esq., Director, Veterans
Law Clinic, Widener University Delaware Law; Richard
A.J. Prebil, Esq., Veterans Advocacy Project, Legal Aid of
Southeastern PA (LASP); Francis Panico, Benefits Coordinator,
County of Delaware Office of Military and Veterans Affairs;
Jesse C. Thompson, Sgt. USMC, Case Manager, Veterans MultiService
Center; David Keller Trevaskis, Esq., Pennsylvania
Bar Association Coordinator, " Wills for Heroes " and " Lawyers

" Honoring Our Veterans ... Serving those who have

served " was dedicated to our hero, Richard A. Mitchell Esquire,
Veteran, in honor of his service in the military, his exceeding

dedication and commitment to the DCBA,
and his work as Chairman of The Military and
Veterans Service Affairs Committee of the
Delaware County Bar Association. Purpose:
The Military and Veterans Service Committee
of the Delaware County Bar Association
was formed as a vehicle through which our
members who have served our country may be
recognized, both those who have passed, and
those who are still with us. Additionally, it is
the further purpose of this committee to honor
all of those who have served our country.
Through Mitch's tireless efforts, The
Military and Veterans Service Committee
recognized DCBA Members/Veterans at the
Annual Delaware County Veterans Memorial
Association (DCVMA) Flying of Veteran
Casket Flags which honors legends from the legal community
who have shaped Delaware County following their heroic efforts
in their military service.
Mitch served five years in the U.S. Army as a Military
Policeman. He was stationed at Fort Dix, NJ. During his military
career, Mitch served a 13-month tour in Vietnam with the 716th
Military Police Battalion, where he was the Provost Marshall at
Bien Hoa. Additionally, he led a detail in charge of protecting
James Meredith at the University of Mississippi during the peak
of the Civil Rights movement.
Mitch's career as an attorney began at Villanova Law School.
Graduating in 1970, Mitch quickly became an active member
of the legal community in Media. Over nearly 50 years, Mitch
earned the respect and admiration of fellow lawyers and judges.
