Center, the predecessor of the MBA's Center for
Mediation and Arbitration. I was honored to present
a resolution prepared by the Minority Bar Committee
before the Pennsylvania Bar Association House of
Delegates on May 12, 2017, which detailed Judge
Davenport's impressive life and time on the bench.
It is also with sadness that I inform you of the passing
of Meyer "Butch" Simon on April 14, 2017. At the time
of his death, Butch served as a part of the MBA's Zone 9
delegation to the Pennsylvania Bar Association's House of
Delegates, and was Chair of the Fee Dispute and General
Practice committees, an active member of the Bench
Bar Committee, and a member of the Judiciary, Rules of
Civil Court, and Unauthorized Practice committees. He
was also a member of the Family Law and Trial Lawyers
Sections. We will miss him.
Bench and Bar
I want to extend a special thank you to the Bench
of our Court of Common Pleas. The Bench/Bar
relationship in Montgomery County is truly a special
one. The Court has steadfastly supported every single
program the MBA has presented this year, including
numerous CLEs. Conversely, the MBA supports the
Court's programs through a network of volunteers. Most
recently, the Bench and Bar have partnered on the Justice
Center and an examination of the ARD program. To
the Court, whether it is for one of the many full bench
ceremonies in Courtroom "A," attending the Dinner
Dance or Bench/Bar Committee Dinners, teaching a
CLE, or performing at Lawyerpalooza, the MBA says
"thank you."
The greatest pleasure in serving the MBA as President
is to see firsthand just how much our Association
accomplishes, its place as a cornerstone of the legal and
greater Montgomery County community, and the many
lives it touches.
Take advantage of all the MBA has to offer: teach,
learn, volunteer, network, give, become a Fellow of the
Foundation, and enjoy the rest of your summer.
