with an individual income of $24,000 or less.
Location: This event will be hosted at Montgomery County
Senior Adult Activities Center, 536 George Street, Norristown, PA
19401, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm.
How you can help: We are in need of volunteer attorneys.
Training and access to the software will be provided. Please
contact the Montgomery Bar Association at (610) 279-9660.
Reference " September Wills for Seniors " when you call.
CLE credits: CLE credits will be offered to volunteer attorneys
who participate in both the training and the volunteer event.
We will have more information about how seniors can register for
this event soon.
All members are invited to join our
Committee meetings which will resume
via Zoom in August and in-person in
September!

Black Lives Matter Mural Unveiled
in Montco: " Where Art Meets Social
Justice "

Norristown's long-awaited Black Lives Matter mural was
unveiled on May 14, 2021. Community members organized
and worked tirelessly for a week to bring the vision of a pair of
local artists, Norristown native Jeleata Nicole and Conshohocken
native Drew Montemayor, to life. The mural is located on the
400th block of Swede Street, directly in front of the Montgomery
County Courthouse.
The idea of an art installation was unanimously approved by
Norristown's Municipal Council in August 2020, but it was not
without controversy. Montemayor and Nicole presented the
artistic design in February 2021, which was endorsed by local
officials. The mural was initially inspired by the Black Lives
Matter mural in Cincinnati, Ohio. " The design is an intricate
assortment of colors and symbols of peace, " organizers said.
The Black Lives Matter mural depicts several people who have
fought for racial justice and equality their entire lives, including
the late Congressman John Lewis and civil rights activist, the late
Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. George Floyd, whose death
at the hands of a Minneapolis police officer in 2020 prompted
nationwide protests for justice, is also included in the mural. It is
a must-see!
