We continue to cover gender inequities in medicine. On
average, female doctors in Pennsylvania are paid about 35
percent less than male physicians. Our article on equal pay
in the medical profession points out some of the reasons,
including the challenges women face when they start a family.
But the article also points out that the pay inequity for many
female physicians has nothing to do with pregnancy. The
article is the latest in a series of articles we are writing on
women's issues in the medical profession.
There is much more in this issue and we hope you enjoy
it. The Philadelphia County Medical Society works locally
