Autodesk 3ds Max 9 accelerates content creation Free upgrade from Hamlet
Hamlet, the leading specialist in high quality, affordable test and
measurement equipment, is offering a free upgrade to its WhichWire cable
test device. WhichWire is designed for installation and fault-finding work
in multi-format environments. Plugging a cable into the device gives an
immediate indication if the feed is analogue or digital and shows a
confidence view on the built-in display, saving the engineer a huge amount
of time in checking cables. The detection is foolproof for normal test
signals like colour bars and most programme material. The new free upgrade
allows the unit to be used at the same time as the most demanding
pathological digital test signals, saving even more time for the busy
engineer fault-finding a complex installation. “Most users will not need
this modification,” said Steve Nunney, director of Hamlet. “WhichWire
has proved popular with users simply because it meets their typical day to
day needs. However, there are some installations which need to give their
digital installations a thorough workout, and those users have asked us to
extend the capabilities of WhichWire to help them. We are of course happy
to do this: all they need do is return the unit to us and we will install
the upgrade free of charge.” Autodesk have introduced 3ds Max 9
software, the latest version of its world-renowned 3D modelling, animation
and rendering solution. 3ds Max 9 supports 64-bit technologies, providing
digital artists with the tools for next-generation games development,
design visualisations, and film and television visual effects production.
3ds Max has been used to realise countless breakthrough projects,
including New York City’s Freedom Tower, games such as Assassin’s
Creed, Gears of War, Guild Wars and Mass Effect, and film blockbusters
such as Aeon Flux and Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire. “With
Autodesk 3ds Max 9, we’ve focused on addressing the challenges our
customers face when working with larger amounts of complex data, as well
as scaling to bigger production teams,” said Marc Petit, Autodesk’s
Media & Entertainment vice president. “Digital artists using 3ds Max 9
will gain improvements in core performance, productivity and pipeline
efficiency. 3ds Max 9 enables artists to manage the increasing complexity
of 3D data sets characteristic of next-generation game, film, broadcast
and design development.” TELEX/ RTS introduces PAM-16 production audio
monitor panel Telemedia is pleased to introduce the PAM-16 production
audio monitor panel from Telex RTS. The PAM-16 keypanel fits in a standard
19” rack and is one rack-space high. It has 16 push button keys used for
monitoring audio inputs. The PAM-16 also has four character alphanumeric
displays with adjustable brightness control, making it suitable for all
types of ambient lighting: from direct sunlight to darkness. The output of
the PAM16 can be connected to a monitor speaker or can be used to create a
mix n-1 audio that can be sent back to the Matrix as input for IFBs. 9
Artist Intercom Systems Riedel’s newest generation of Artist Intercom
systems were introduced to broadcasters at IBC 2006. Artist is designed as
a powerful digital matrix platform for intercom and the distribution of
analogue and digital audio and TCP/IP data. The system consists of a fibre
based network backbone providing a decentralized infrastructure for live
audio and intercom applications. The matrices allow all frame sizes to use
the same type of controller and client cards which significantly reduces
expansion costs and the need for spare pooling. Advanced features include
increased memory for complex, multi-node installations, a superior alarm
signalization, optimized cooling concept for quiet operation,
compatibility with other Artist frames, and a flexible fibre option
enabling the user to easily change from multi-mode to single-mode, or
high-power. Warning : Unknown : The session id contains invalid characters, valid
