Product news Photon Beard launch new Tungsten Fresnel range HHB expands
Flashmic range with new cardioid model Combining a high-quality Sennheiser
capsule with a broadcast-quality Flash recorder, the ground-breaking HHB
FlashMic has quickly become established as the portable recording device
of choice for ME broadcasters. Now HHB has expanded the FlashMic range
with the introduction of a new cardioid version the FlashMic DRM85-C to
accompany the original, omni-directional FlashMic DRM85. Both FlashMic
models share the same comprehensive feature set, which includes 1GB Flash
memory for more than 18 hours of recording, USB audio data transfer, a
high quality preamplifier with full manual or automatic gain control AGC ,
an illuminated LCD display and nine user templates which can be configured
externally using the FlashMic Manager software supplied. “When news
breaks, the FlashMic provides a convenient, all-in-one portable recording
solution with no fiddly cables or connectors,” explains Dennis Feldman,
managing director of EMS Africa, “and it’s every bit as easy to
transfer audio files to a laptop for editing and onward transmission.”
UK lighting manufacturer Photon Beard has launched a new Tungsten Fresnel
range. Available now is a 650W lamp head, which can accept a 500W or 300W
lamp and there will also be a 1kW lamp head to follow very shortly. By
careful design of the ventilation, these lamp heads run cooler than
competitors' products and, due to low mass, cool down quicker at the end
of the shoot, said Peter Daffarn. One of the major advantages of Metal
Halide, apart from being more efficient than Tungsten, is the ability to
quickly and easily change colour temperature. It will simply be a matter
of swapping lamps to get your appropriate colour temperature. Photon Beard
is one of the oldest lighting companies in the world, having been started
by R.R. Beard in 1873 and is proud to still be a UK manufacturer, with
Robert Beard at the helm though not the original R. Beard we hasten to
mention! as joint managing director with Peter Daffarn. High-end
acquisition with Sony’s new F23 CineAlta camera Sony has announced a new
CineAlta camera which will support 4:4:4 1920 by 1080 RGB imaging. The
system is the newest member of Sony's high-end CineAlta line of
acquisition products for digital television and motion picture content
creation. “With this new system, content creators and program producers
will have one more extremely versatile high-end production tool in their
arsenal,” said Rob Sherman, Sony Broadcast’s managing director in
Africa and the Middle East. “Developed for cinematographers, this system
will offer the technical and mechanical flexibility they need, as well as a
compact and rugged design to withstand the challenging conditions often
encountered on location.” The SRW-1 digital 4:4:4 recorder will dock
directly to the top or to the tail of the new system. This eliminates the
need for cumbersome cable handling between the camera and recorder. When
more mobility is required, the recorder can also be tethered using a
‘dual-link’ cable connection so the camera is as small and light as
possible. 7 Network Electronics expand VikinX router range Network
Electronics, known for manufacturing and marketing the phenomenally
popular VikinX router range, has announced the expansion of the modular
line to include 256 x 256 versions. The new routers - the VD256256L and
HD256256L - join Network Electronics’ popular 128x128 and 64x64
versions. The units provide fully hot-swappable module cards, built-in
dual redundant power supply and fully redundant control architecture and
controller functions. Sophisticated control features include TCP/IP
control interface and TCP/IP interconnectivity with VikinX Modular control
panels, SNMP agent, as well as a comprehensive surveillance of the
routers’ vital parameters.
