PLATING AND ANODIZING: GALVANIZING
Dip Galvanized AESS offer the tools
necessary to communicate practical
exemptions and additional requirements
when seeking the aesthetic requirements
of a particular AESS category (Figure 9).
To view the AGA Specifier's Guide to
HDG AESS visit galvanizeit.org/AESS.
Other trending uses of hot-dip
galvanized steel include its specification
for solar panel structures, LEED
structures, water parks and aquatic
facilities, wood distribution pole
replacements, artistic sculptures,
steel reinforcing bar used in marine
environments, and the rising popularity
of duplex systems beyond architectural
buildings. Without a doubt, creative
specifiers will continue to surprise us all.
As specifiers continue to look toward
the future, hot-dip galvanized steel will
remain a strategic part of the specifier's
toolbox to combat steel corrosion.
Proven historical performance mixed
with contemporary applications
continue to reveal innovative uses for
HDG steel over the years across Canada.
Whether specified as an architectural
feature, top-coated to gain the benefits
of multiple coating systems, buried
within a building envelope or under
fireproofing, or immersed in concrete,
hot-dip galvanized steel remains a
versatile tool in the pursuit of modern,
resilient, and sustainable structures to
benefit future generations.
