PPG INTRODUCES FAST-DRYING,
HIGH-BUILD PRIMER SURFACER
FOR PPG ENVIROBASE HIGH
PERFORMANCE REFINISH
SYSTEM
PPG has launched PPG ENVIROBASE ECP35 2.1
VOC High Production Surfacer for the U.S. and
Canadian automotive refinish markets.
Developed for use with the PPG Envirobase
High-Performance waterborne system, the highbuild
primer surfacer is fast drying, providing
time and cost savings for body shops. It also
produces a sustainability benefit by reducing the
amount of volatile organic compounds released
into the air.
" Our latest advanced primer surfacer offers
easy sandability and quick-dry efficiency - all
of which contribute to excellent throughput
performance and reduced cycle times, " said
Nicole Sinclair, PPG brand manager, collision,
automotive refinish. " PPG Envirobase ECP352.1
VOC High Production Surfacer is ideal for today's
production-minded shops. "
Compatible with current PPG Envirobase
reducers and undercoat hardeners, the new
primer surfacer is ready to sand after one hour
of air drying or 15 minutes of force drying. It also
offers excellent film build, surface leveling and
gloss retention.
" This is a great addition to the PPG Envirobase
High-Performance system, which is the
leading premium waterborne paint system in
North America, " Sinclair said. " It provides our
customers with a suite of sustainable undercoats
and clear coats that integrate flawlessly with its
advanced waterborne basecoat, providing bestin-class
colour accuracy and durability. "
POLYCHEM POWDER COATINGS LAUNCH " THE
GOLD STANDARD " COLLECTION
Polychem Powder Coatings has launched The Gold Standard colour
collection. The Gold Standard is a selection of shades of gold that
also deliver tough, durable protection to metal surfaces.
Created using Polychem's signature polyester technology, the
Gold Standard comprises nine golds with subtle shimmers and
special effects to offer the designer a classic colour for their
palette.
" The Gold Standard was born from designers and coaters
requesting multiple shades of this classy colour, " explains Lauren
Bayer, Polychem Manager. " Gold is a popular hue, be it as a base
colour or accent, and this collection showcases subtle shades and
shimmers that capture the trend perfectly. "
EVONIK LAUNCHES ELATUR DINCD: A NEW
PLASTICIZER FOR DURABLE PRODUCTS
Evonik's new product, ELATUR DINCD, a cyclohexanoate, is
characterized by a combination of many sought-after properties,
such as low-temperature flexibility and high UV resistance; thus,
contributing significantly to the weather resistance and durability
of the products made from it. ELATUR DINCD is easy to process
due to its low viscosity and is particularly suitable for demanding
exterior and interior applications, such as textile fabrics, roofing
membranes, floor coverings, adhesives and sealants, as well as
paints and coatings.
This portfolio expansion is part of Evonik's long-term strategy
to expand its portfolio of plasticizers based on specific customer
needs.
" The addition of ELATUR DINCD to our portfolio ideally
complements our existing and proven product family, " says Dr.
Janina Fischer, Director Marketing Plasticizers, who is responsible
for marketing the new plasticizer. " Our customers' needs are
as diverse as ours. We can now offer them an even wider range
of products from which to choose the one that best suits their
individual requirements. "
The new product will be manufactured at the Group's largest
site in Marl, Germany. An initial production campaign for the new
plasticizer ELATUR DINCD has been successfully carried out.
Production will be expanded step by step in response to market
demand.
