Solar to Grid Integration
Problem: When a large school installed a new solar system, the system continually tripped offline, diminishing the solar systems'
environmental and financial impact. The school used Legend's Insights systems to identify the problem's root cause.
Insights: Legend found that the grid's voltage was extremely high during mid-day, which was when the solar system should have been contributing
the most energy. As a result, the grid-tied inverter was tripping offline, and voltage levels were barely within standard operating limits.
The problem came from the power grid's conditions. When at high voltage levels, the solar array was prevented from supplying power back to the
grid.
Solution: Legend deployed their SmartGATE platform to eliminate voltage and power-related challenges to ensure that the school's solar
investment was protected and fully enabled regardless of the grid's state.
IT Fault Identification
Problem: A large commercial office building, with significant IT systems, periodically experienced unidentifiable power issues that disrupted
sensitive IT equipment. This reoccurring issue resulted in lost work and a regular flow of complaints to the building operator.
Insights: Legend's Insights system characterized one of the disruptions as a single-phase voltage sag to 20% of nominal, which correlated with an
event noticed by the building's staff. Once Legend identified the issue, they worked with the client to model this event's anticipated frequency
based on the actual sag and the other recorded " near miss " type of events.
Solution: Legend used the data from Insights to designed and calibrate the SmartGATE platform Onsight to protect against future disruptions.
In these examples, Legend used data to help provide building occupants with a better, well-enhanced electrical experience. Insights leverages
data and advanced analytics to drive value for all building stakeholders while creating revenue-generating opportunities for electrical contractors,
engineering firms, and other building service providers.
