Discover Boating works year round to expand awareness and
generate positive perceptions of the boating lifestyle, and
the summer months offer a prime time to demonstrate the
benefits of boating through public relations (PR) efforts. In
addition to traditional PR efforts, Discover Boating is also partnering with Boating BC, Boating Ontario and Association
Maritime du Québec to co-host regional on-water PR events
this summer, where media are invited to discover and experience the boating lifestyle firsthand.
These media days on the water provide an opportunity to
reach out to a broad range of outlets that will generate positive
boating lifestyle stories focusing on affordability, healthy
lifestyles, making connections with loved ones, the simple joy
of leaving daily stress of life on land and more. Efforts to
secure such coverage include reaching out to a range of media
outlets such as traditional broadcast TV, radio, print, as well as
digital channels and bloggers. Bloggers are often focused
on lifestyle messaging and offer a targeted way to reach a
variety of younger and diverse audiences.
To make these media on-water events possible, Discover
Boating works directly with manufacturers to showcase a
variety of boat types throughout the summer including
pontoon boats, fishing boats, wakeboarding boats, bowriders,
sportboats and personal watercraft. Ultimately, media
discover a range of enjoyable boating activities and experience
the fun of boating firsthand which they then share with their
audiences. Successful events were held on the Toronto waterfront June 22nd with Boating Ontario and near downtown
Montreal boating on the St. Lawrence on July 5th in partnership with AMQ. The third media event will be co-hosted
with Boating BC and is scheduled to occur in two locations on
August 10th in Vancouver.
