Waubaushene Machine & Welding
WMW Vacuum Pumpout Systems and More...
One of WMW's AVR 60 systems in New Zealand.
BY ANDY ADAMS
This fall we made the short trip to Waubaushene, Ontario on
the shores of Georgian Bay to Waubaushene Machine &
Welding - WMW Vacuum Pumpout Systems.
We spoke with Brad Oakley, the outgoing and effusive
owner, but that day he had important appointments out of the
office and he wasn't able to stay for long. Luckily, he left me in
the capable hands of Jamie Di Francesco who is head of sales
for WMW Marine Pumpout Systems and he took me through
their shop and also introduced me to their on-staff electrical
engineer, Oliver Hahn.
Founded in 1983, the Waubaushene Machine & Welding
company has established an important position for itself in the
marine industry and the WMW Vacuum Pumpout Systems are
now operating far beyond just marinas in Canada. Their equipment has found a good market in the United States and in
other countries as far away as New Zealand.

The first two pumps WMW ever built for marinas are still
in use 32 years later. While the primary focus of the business
is their marine pump out line, customers seeking custom fabrication have also discovered that Brad Oakley's team is up for
a challenge.
They have created custom marina racking, docks and other
equipment. Perhaps the most interesting application is to take
their knowledge and skill with large size vacuum systems and
apply it to creating a hydro excavator mounted on rails that the
Toronto Transit Commission bought for underground excavating.
Instead of using a large crew with expensive digging equipment and trucks to facilitate material removal, WMW created
a huge hydrovac system involving just one rail-mounted truck
that only needed two operators, to excavate using high-pressure water and vacuum systems to remove material quickly,
cleanly and easily.
