In Memoriam Donations
The CPS Foundation receives many In Memoriam donations
sent in memory of a deceased Member, friend or
loved one. It is very important that the donation is accompanied
by the appropriate Donation Form Memorial
Log (cpsfoundation.ca) for it to be recorded properly
and enable us to acknowledge the gift.
Honour Roll Donations
Squadrons and Districts can donate either $1 (regular
Honour Roll) or $10 (Gold Honour Roll) per Member and
will be recognized accordingly with Honour Roll Certificates.
This has become an annual tradition with many
Squadrons and now Districts investing their funds in the
CPS Foundation in a similar manner. This link Honour Roll
(cpsfoundation.ca) will provide you with all the information
and necessary forms. The number of members used
to calculate an Honour Roll donation is the Squadron
or District Membership at the close of the month prior
to the donation. Some donors make multiple Honour
Roll donations at one time based on that number.
I cannot emphasize enough that each donation must be
accompanied by the appropriate form, each of which
is available from the links noted or www.cpsfoundation.ca.
This enables the tracking and documentation of all
funds received. Honour Roll receipts for 2024 can be
sent as late as September 15th in order to be listed in the
CPS Foundation report to the CPS-ECP AGM in October
so you have plenty of time still to remit donations.
I would be remiss if I didn't thank the CPS-ECP Accounting
staff for all of the assistance they give to the CPS
Foundation throughout the year and for working with
the CPS Foundation Treasurer. Thank You.

AGM. There are some in the photo that have given 31
consecutive donations (highest to date) and some
proudly displaying their first.■
Encourage Your Teenager to wear their
Personal Flotation Device (PFD)
Parenting teens can be hard. They're at an age where
they want to assert their independence and identity, but
still need guidance. They don't always realize how fragile
life is and can often make decisions that are contrary to
what their parents want for them.
You can talk to them all day about water tragedies and
show them stories about drownings, however chances
are they may not take them seriously or personally.
They'll throw every excuse at you for reasons to not
wear a PFD; " I can swim " , " I don't intend on going in the
water " , " PFDs are ugly, hot and bulky " . Trust me, we've
heard them all. It's easy as a parent to feel like you're
in an unwinnable battle with your teens over something
as simple (and important) as wearing a PFD when on
the water. You shouldn't have to bribe someone to wear
something that could save their life. With some creativity
and understanding you can make wearing a PFD 'cool'
