A Fresh Approach
to the Future
Welcome to the October 2019 issue of Canadian Yachting magazine! Over this past
summer, we have taken a fresh new approach to the future of our editorial in the magazine. It's our hope that you will like the increased content, wider range of topics and
the new contributing writers and photographers that we have added.
In this issue, Amy Breaux makes her debut with a very comprehensive destination
article on the Kingston, Ontario area.
Some of our favourite writers are also back starting with Rob McLeod, the
Informed Boater. Rob has been writing about sailing, and actually cruising, running
charters and more for most of his life. This issue features a special Chartering
Handbook which is a pull-out supplement in the magazine. We're confident that from
novice to expert, our readers will all find tips and tricks of value and of interest
whereever in the world you find attractive, this Chartering Handbook will have information that should prove helpful and informative!
We are continuing our popular Yacht Club and Marina profile series. This issue,
Katherine Stone has covered the Alexandra Yacht Club in Toronto, a smaller club with
a colourful history and determined members!
One of the most important new directions that we are pursuing will be to bring you
more product information and technical editorial. We know our readers really own
boats and really use them, so we expect this to be very popular. In this issue, we are
covering the Compass and its maintenance needs. Looking after the compass is something that is often overlooked. When was the last time you had your compass serviced?
It turns out that your compass should be looked after and serviced on a fairly regular
basis. Let's hope we stimulate a little more attention for this occasionally critical piece
of equipment.
We are continuing the ever popular new boat review series with a sailboat review
on the exciting new J99, a powerboat review on the very versatile Pursuit DC 235 dual
console with Yamaha F300 outboard and this issue's flagship is the newest design from
Cruisers Yachts, their 38 GLS model with triple Mercury V8 outboards.
We hope you like these latest changes to Canadian Yachting magazine and that the
summer of 2019 has given you a full season of wonderful boating memories as we think
ahead to 2020.
