" My time and
experience at
Lancaster Bible
College were
something I will
always treasure.
Not only did I learn
so much about the
Bible, but I found
out more about
my gifts and
talents and how
to use them to
glorify God. "

eacher education at Lancaster Bible College
has been in place since the late 1970s. Since
that time, LBC education graduates can be
found in classrooms around the world.
Some have taught in small schools, others in
large schools, some in Christian schools, others
in mission schools, international government
schools, public schools or homeschooled their
own children. Each of these teachers has made
a difference in the lives of the students in these
classrooms, planting seeds for the future.
Among these LBC grads, several have received
recognition as outstanding teachers. Joe
Parthemore ('11) has gone on to be one of those
outstanding young professional educators. His
experiences as a classroom teacher have been
varied but all with his strong intent to make a
difference in the lives of his students.
" Nurturing children from the ground up is a
foundational piece in seeing students thrive, " he
said. " Students are like plants in that each one is
different and has unique needs in order to survive
and thrive in their environment. As teachers, our
focus can tend to be on academics and teaching all
the content standards within the time constraints
of the school year. It's our responsibility to know
our students beneath the surface and foster
those needs because if the student does not
have everything he/she needs, they will never
grow. " When someone visits Joe's classroom it is
evident that this is why and how he teaches.
Joe is a currently a sixth-grade math teacher at
Heritage Middle School for Grapevine-Colleyville
School District in Grapevine, Texas, where he has
taught since 2014 when he moved to the state.
Before moving to Texas and following graduation in
December 2011, Joe coordinated the development
of curriculum for an online training program
in Harrisburg. Among his peers, Joe is known
as a master innovator and creative designer of
engaging work for his scholars. He integrates realworld
problems and hands-on learning into his
instruction, continuing to honor student-centered
learning and using student interest to foster inquiry,
questioning, critical thinking and problem-solving
skills.
The classroom is a vibrant place for learning, and
Joe's students have experienced this in many ways.
