Echo Spring 2023 - 4

s I think about the spring issue of The ECHO, my mind races back to my days at MidSouth
Bible College in Memphis, Tenn. Of the many books I read during my college
years, one that stands out is Frank E. Gaebelein's " The Pattern of God's Truth. "
Gaebelein wrote of Augustine, Melanchthon, Pascal, Newman and Kuyper-that they
all shared the understanding that all truth is God's truth.
A
This is the way Augustine words it in " On Christian Doctrine: " " Let every good and true
Christian understand that wherever truth may be found, it belongs to his Master. " Yes, all truth
is God's truth. While the domains of biblical and theological study, of course, point us toward
God, the same can be said of math, science, art, history and of anywhere that truth can be
found.
At Lancaster Bible College | Capital Seminary & Graduate School, our mission is to educate
Christian students to think and live a biblical worldview and to proclaim Christ by serving Him
in the Church and society. Students are equipped to formulate a biblical worldview to assess
and interact with the world around them, understanding that everything good and true has its
origin in the Author of Truth Himself. This kind of worldview reaches beyond the confines of
Bible classes and Sunday sermons (though both are important) and becomes the lens through
which we see and process all of life, including every domain of study under the sun.
With a biblical worldview anchored in the Word of God, students are encouraged to study
science from the starting point of a good and sovereign Creator. To view math and reason
as flowing from a God who does everything perfectly and in order. To read and interpret
history through the lens of God's sovereignty, orienting the stories of old within the grand,
overarching story of God. With this perspective, both teaching and learning become
opportunities for awe and worship as our pursuits of truth point us over and over to the
Master to whom it belongs.
In a world seeking the truth in many places, LBC students and alumni are using their gifts to
the glory of God and are pointing those around them to Jesus, who is the way and the truth
and the life (John 14:6). It is my hope that as you read in this issue of The ECHO about LBC |
Capital students and alumni living on mission in the field of education, you will be encouraged
by God's work in the world of teaching and learning and are reminded that everything good,
true and beautiful declares His glory.
