I
t's a great day to be a Charger! That's a phrase you'll hear often around campus these
days. And, it's true! After welcoming our largest incoming on-campus undergraduate
class this fall, LBC is celebrating the largest enrollment in history, with over 2,400
students studying on campus, online or in a hybrid setting. To each of these students,
our promise is the same-
We prepare students to flourish in college and life, inside and outside the classroom,
from the conviction that Christ is real and the Bible is true.
As we carry out our mission to educate Christian students to think and live a biblical
worldview and to proclaim Christ by serving Him in the Church and society, this promise
unifies and aligns our efforts-from academics to student experience, from marketing to
budgeting. Our name tells people who we are, our mission tells people what we do, and
our promise tells people why we do what we do and what they can expect from us.
A recent interaction reminded me why the LBC Promise matters-
As part of our quarterly Board of Trustees meeting, I had the opportunity to
eat lunch at a table with two trustees and two LBC student leaders. It
was a great time for our board members to see firsthand the good
work that God is doing at LBC in and through these student leaders.
At the end of our lunch, the trustees wanted to spend some time
praying for the student leaders. In response, these students asked
if they could pray for our trustees! I walked away encouraged and
wondering, " How many places can provide that kind of opportunity?! "
At LBC, everything we do is rooted in the reality that Christ is real
and the Bible is true. Because of that, every interaction, whether in the
classroom or in the dining hall, is an opportunity for flourishing.
As you read through this edition of The ECHO, I hope you'll be encouraged
by what God is doing at LBC and through our graduates around
the world. Whether you're a student, alumnus, faculty or staff
member, or friend of LBC-it's a great day to be a Charger!
