ancaster Bible College fall athletic teams experienced both ups and downs this
autumn, with squads representing the Chargers in the playoffs, records broken
and senior athletes ending on a high note.
MEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
The LBC men's cross country squad saw a successful season with some strong
performances throughout the year. Two runners won United East weekly honors,
and the team finished fourth at the United East Championships. Mitchell Gray
('25) defended his title and won his third consecutive individual championship as
Runner of the Year, while David Helms ('26) joined him on the All-Conference
First Team with a sixth-place finish. Daniel Lefko ('25) earned a Second Team
honor with a 14th-place finish.
WOMEN'S CROSS COUNTRY
Women's cross country also had an impressive season, with a young group of
talented underclassmen racing strong throughout the year. The team won its
home meet on Sept. 20, beating out four other teams and putting two top-five
finishers on the podium. At the United East Championships, the Chargers finished
third with two top-five finishers in Abby Ames ('27) and Seana Dougherty ('28),
who both earned All-Conference First Team selections, while Kylee Antrim ('28)
garnered an All-Conference Third Team selection by finishing 26th overall.
Abby Ames was a
top-five finisher
at the United East
Championships.
FIELD HOCKEY
With a tough season behind them, the LBC field hockey team finished with a
2-15 overall record and went 0-5 in the United East Conference. The Chargers
scored just nine goals on the season, led by Molly Gray ('25), who had four goals
on 16 shots, and Riley Danko ('27) with one goal and a team-high three assists.
Danko also became the program leader in assists with six in just two seasons,
while Gray finished her career with the second-most goals in the program with
27. The Chargers earned a win on opening weekend over Eastern Mennonite
and won on Sept. 28 over Southern Virginia for Homecoming.
Riley Danko became
the field hockey
program assist
leader in just
two years.
Charger Care is a new studentathlete
program at LBC that
is funded by an NCAA grant
to provide development and
oversight to greater care for
student-athletes' mental health
and well-being. Efforts include
routine check-ins, awareness,
education and programming.
