Echo Winter 2025 - 34

The winter sports season is underway at Lancaster Bible College, and Charger teams
are poised for continued success, growth and glorifying the Lord both on and off
the court. To keep up with schedules, scores and highlights, visit lbcchargers.com or

MEN'S BASKETBALL
The Chargers team is primed for another season of action under sixth-year head
coach Jon Mack, who won his third-straight Coach of the Year honor from the
United East Conference in 2024. In a revamped 16-team conference, the Chargers
look to improve upon their divisional semifinal berth last season and make a
deep run to contend for the conference title as they did in 2023. A key returner is
graduate student Grant Sareyka ('24 & '25), who received First Team All-Conference
recognition after leading the team with 21.2 points per game and an almost 40%
shooting clip from 3-point range. The team opened the season on Nov. 8 on the
road before playing in the Music City Class in Nashville against Ohio Wesleyan on
Dec. 19 and Chatham on Dec. 20. Key conference matchups at home this winter
include Notre Dame (Md.) on Jan. 14, Penn State Abington on Jan. 22, Penn State
Berks on Jan. 25, Cairn on Feb. 5, Penn State Harrisburg on Feb. 8 and St. Mary's
(Md.) on Feb. 15 to close out the regular season.
WOMEN'S BASKETBALL
Women's Basketball looks to come back strong after a first-round exit in last
year's United East playoffs, welcoming a slew of new players along with some
key returners under first-year head coach Kel Brown. The Chargers welcome
back Jenna Dombach ('24 & '28) after an All-Conference Second Team selection
last season, leading the team with 14.6 points per game and 50-plus 3-pointers.
Standout Rachel Nolt ('26) returns as well, posting 204 rebounds as a freshman for
the ninth-most in the conference last season. The Chargers kicked off the season
at home in early November and will face a few new United East teams this season.
Watch for action from home conference matchups against Bryn Athyn on Jan. 11,
Notre Dame (Md.) on Jan. 14, Penn College on Jan. 22, Cairn on Feb. 5 and St.
Mary's (Md.) on Feb. 15.
MEN'S VOLLEYBALL
The men's volleyball squad looks to ride its momentum into this season following
back-to-back United East titles and an appearance in the NCAA National
Tournament in April 2024. Two-time United East Coach of the Year Jade Brubaker
enters his 12th season at the helm, returning key players like last year's Offensive
Player of the Year Jake Rotelle ('25) and opposite hitter Dawson Forney ('25). The
Chargers begin the season in Angola, Ind., Jan. 10-11 competing in the Trine Quad
series with three tough matchups. Their first home matchup is Jan. 15 against
Misericordia, then United East play kicks off Feb. 18, as the Chargers travel to face
Cairn. The first home conference game is March 15 versus the Pratt Institute, with
playoffs beginning April 5.
INDOOR TRACK & FIELD
LBC track & field began the indoor season in early December at the Diplomat
Open hosted by Franklin & Marshall. Head coach Melissa Baughman will lead a
strong young core of returners into this season on both the men's and women's
teams as the Chargers look to set personal and program records as they compete
for spots in both NCAA Division III and NCCAA Nationals. Returners on the men's
side include distance runner Daniel Lefko ('25) and jumper Chase Gerber ('27),
while women's returners include thrower Martha Weaver ('27) and sprinter
Faith Garber ('27). The Chargers will compete Feb. 28 at the United East Indoor
Championships in Landover, Md., where they will aim to improve upon the seven
medals earned in 2024.
