T
he United East athletic conference announced in October
the addition of women's flag football as a conferencesponsored
sport starting in the 2025-26 academic year. At
least five schools will participate at the club level this spring,
including LBC, Gallaudet University, Keystone College, Penn
College and Rosemont College.
The conference will assist in coordinating club-level competition
with the five new programs. Once elevated to the varsity level,
women's flag football will become the 21st sport sponsored by the
United East, with the first projected conference championship to
be hosted in spring 2026.
According to the United East, women's flag football is rapidly
expanding at the high school and collegiate level and will be an
Olympic sport in 2028. Over the past five years, participation in
high school girls' flag football has grown by nearly 15% and nearly
18% for ages 6-17. The National Football League has supported the
growth of flag football, with numerous NFL facilities and stadiums
utilized for competitions and clinics. In 2024, more than 700,000
youth took part in NFL flag leagues, with nearly 500,000 of those
athletes being female.
The average roster size is 25 players who will play 7-on-7. A game
will consist of four 12-minute quarters on an 80-by-40-yard-field.
At LBC, the Chargers will play on the Donald H. Funk Field at
Willis & Martha Herr Stadium. Watch for more information at

" I chose LBC because
I wanted to grow
as a person and a
basketball player,
and I felt like LBC
would challenge
me to grow in
both areas. "
For the first time since the turn
of the century, Pete Beers will
report to work at a place other
than Lancaster Bible College.
Beers, an LBC employee for 25
years, resigned as Director of
Athletics at the close of 2024,
ending a run that saw him
transform the Chargers Athletic
Department and enhance the
on-campus undergraduate
experience. Read

impact at LBC at

" I chose LBC because of
the biblical foundation I
knew it would provide.
I am thankful to be
learning to be a teacher
in an environment that
challenges me to live
on mission. The family
atmosphere and
discipleship on the
basketball team was
also a huge factor
in me choosing
LBC. "
