T
his past fall, my wife, Paulette, and I enjoyed
a 10-day visit to Glacier National Park in the
northwestern corner of Montana-one of the
crown jewels of the National Park Service.
The beauty and majesty of the mountain
peaks, the tapestry of trees against the bright
blue sky and the shimmering lakes are simply
breathtaking.
In our hectic daily lives, it's easy to overlook the
majesty of creation. Yet there are experiences
that make it impossible to ignore the glory of
God, and this trip was one of those moments.
From the geological formations to the wideopen
landscapes and sparkling lakes, we were
transported to a level of breathtaking beauty.
Many times, I thought of Psalm 19, in which
David looks to the heavens and sees the glory
of God proclaimed. Psalm 19:1 declares: " The
heavens declare the glory of God, and the
sky above proclaims his handiwork. "
David observed this glory in the sun, the clouds,
the sunrises, the night sky and the stars. All of
this together shouts of the glorious God who
created it. His glory is evident in the sheer size
of the universe, its harmonious
workings and his artistry. Above
all, it reflects His graciousness in
creating a world for all humanity
to appreciate.
David tells us that the skies reveal
God's handiwork. The day and
night skies convey knowledge of
His wisdom, glory and creative
genius.
The heavens above and the
landscape around us affirm
the reality that God is glorious,
thoughtful and generous. Creation
offers us the chance to see God's
glory and respond accordingly-His desire is for
everyone to have a relationship with Him-a
timeless message our Lancaster Bible College
professors daily teach to our students.
