The relational focus of the culture drives every aspect of
YWAM's ministry on the island, even when residents are not
recovering from disaster.
" At one point, we went to a housing project every week just
to play with kids for an hour, " Keim shared. " That's all we did.
But the relationships we built opened a door to bring the kids
back to us at our missions base. The parents were willing and
excited to let their kids come to camp. When they were at
camp, we were able to share the gospel with them. "
Once Raymond Keim ('24) learned about
LBC | Capital's online programs, he realized it
was possible to serve the Lord in Saint Croix
while also completing a degree that will
give him the opportunity to support other
missionaries around the world.
Amid the excitement surrounding Keim's decision to move
to Saint Croix in 2015, he was also faced with a hard choice.
While he was passionate about pursuing a degree in the
business world, he understood that the Lord had laid the
people of the Caribbean on his heart. His move to the island
meant setting his personal college plans aside in exchange
for God's greater calling.
Several years after his decision to enter full-time vocational
ministry, he felt the Lord stirring his heart once more. " I felt for
six months to a year that God was calling me back to school, "
Keim said. During a furlough trip to the states, he thought to
himself, " If God is leading me to this, I should pursue it. "
After exploring several options that all led to closed doors,
Keim packed up to head back to the island. " A week before I
was supposed to leave for Saint Croix, a family friend got in
contact with me and asked if I wanted to continue college
through LBC. "
While the idea sounded interesting, there were many
obstacles to overcome, the largest of all being the fact that
he was due to leave in just one week. But once Keim learned
about LBC | Capital's online programs, he realized it was
possible to serve the Lord in Saint Croix while also completing
a degree that will give him the opportunity to support other
missionaries around the world in the future.
Within the week, he was accepted to the LBC | Capital
Business Administration program, received all his class
materials and even had the first semester's tuition covered.
The following Monday, he began online classes-a perfect fit
for his stage in life, his location and his service to the Lord.
" God has continually provided to make it a possibility, " Keim
said. " It has been amazing to see how he has come through
for that. "
