Lancaster Bible College | Capital Seminary & Graduate School started the 2022-23 academic year by welcoming several
new full-time faculty members and program directors, as well as additional team members who will serves as invaluable
resources and dedicated mentors to LBC | Capital students as they " think and live a biblical worldview and proclaim Christ
by serving Him in the Church and society. "
Dr. LaSondra Barnes is the new Master of Arts in Ministry Program Director. She works with faculty, staff and students to
foster an environment of meaningful, transformational servant leadership through teaching and administration. Before LBC
| Capital, Barnes held positions in student life, as an adjunct professor and in various pastoral roles. She earned a Bachelor
of Science from Michigan State University, a Master of Divinity from Western Seminary and a Doctorate in Ministry from
George Fox University. Her primary research areas of interest are spiritual formation, leadership development, women's
ministry and healing parental wounds. She is the author of " Rejected to Accepted: Learning to Love Myself after Adversity "
and hosts the Royal One Podcast. She enjoys traveling, sporting events and cooking.
Dr. Casey Barton is the Pastoral Ministries Program Director in the Church & Ministry Leadership Department. He has
served in ministry for more than 20 years in various capacities, including youth, college, associate and lead pastor roles.
He completed a Master of Divinity and Master of Theology in Homiletics at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary, a
Master of Theology in Christian Ethics and Practical Theology at New College in the University of Edinburgh and a PhD in
Homiletics from the Toronto School of Theology in the University of Toronto. Barton has taught in the areas of preaching
and pastoral theology at Gordon-Conwell, North Park Theological Seminary and United Theological Seminary. He enjoys
woodworking, snowboarding, pop culture, coaching his son's Little League team and rooting for the Boston Red Sox.
Mary Ann Filler, a new Assistant Professor of Mathematics and Mathematics Coordinator in the Arts & Sciences
Department, earned a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry with an Applied Mathematics minor at Salisbury University.
She worked as a chemist for the Environmental Protection Agency prior to graduate school at Salisbury, where her
teaching career began. Filler earned an MEd in Mathematics and taught high school math for five years before teaching
at Harrisburg Area Community College, Frederick Community College, Shippensburg University and Gettysburg College.
She participated in a yearlong math modeling course sponsored by National Science Foundation and National Security
Agency, tutored countless students, advocated for students with disabilities and worked as a solver for Demme Learning.
She enjoys serving in her church and local community, gardening and refinishing furniture.
Dr. Christina Helfrick, Assistant Professor in the Master of Social Work Program, recently completed her doctoral journey
at Millersville University, studying intervention research with the goal of building the social capital of homeless youth in
school systems. She also earned a master's degree from Shippensburg University and a bachelor's degree in psychology
from The Pennsylvania State University. A licensed social worker, Helfrick spent nearly a decade in practice as a school
social worker. She has worked in the fields of mental health, foster care, homelessness and immigrant serving systems for
20 years and is the board president for the Pennsylvania Association of School Social Work Personnel. Helfrick continues
to develop Champions for Teens, a homeless advocate program she created through her doctoral research, as she
collaborates with researchers and community members to innovate programs locally and nationally.
Christine Kirkpatrick is a new Subject Matter Expert and Assistant Professor in the Education Department. She's served
in the education field for 30 years as a teacher and administrator, from preschool to higher education settings. Kirkpatrick
earned a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from Kutztown University, as well as a master's degree in Theological
Studies and EdS in Educational Leadership from Liberty University. She is also an EdD candidate at Liberty, with the hopes
of defending her dissertation focusing on student success by year's end. She enjoys visiting antique shops, trying new
recipes and spending time at her family's log cabin.
Rev. Dr. Matthew Wonjoon Lee is a new Assistant Professor and the Master of Divinity Global Program Director. He
previously served as Associate Pastor at SaRang Church in Seoul, Korea, Lead Pastor of Young Adults Singles Ministry at
SaRang Church and Vice-Dean of SaRang Global Academy, School of Worship. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Music
Industry from the University of Southern California, an MDiv from Fuller Theological Seminary, a Master of Arts in Christian
Apologetics from Biola University and a PhD in Applied Apologetics from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. Lee
has extensive experience in worship and the arts, is bi-cultural in American and Korean settings and fluent in English and
Korean.
Sheila O'Gara is the new Healthcare Management Program Director in the Health & Physical Education Department. She
has served as an Executive Director for senior living communities and as the Senior Program Director with the Sisters of
St. Francis of Philadelphia for nearly 16 years. O'Gara earned a Bachelor of Arts in Law and Justice and a Master of Arts in
Public Relations/Image Management from Rowan University, and is licensed as a Nursing Home Administrator, Personal
Care Administrator and Assisted Living Administrator in Pennsylvania. As an adjunct professor at Neumann University,
O'Gara taught creative writing and U.S. history, and as a healthcare administrator, she's taught on a variety of subjects,
from dementia and resident rights to identifying, preventing and reporting abuse. She enjoys hiking, skiing, cooking, art
and serving in missions locally, nationally and globally.
