Abigail H. Wenger ('22) is
working at Precise Inspecting,
a home inspection company
in Lancaster. When not working,
she helps to lead worship at
Grace Community Church of
Willow Street for the Saturday
service, as well as young adults
and youth group. She is an active
member at her home church,
Crossway Church in Millersville and serves in the
children's ministry.
John H. Baine ('23) gives praise
to God for his May graduation:
" I don't believe that it has hit me
yet. All the hard work, prayers
and deadlines for submitting our
papers. Praise God; we are here. "
Ruth J. Martin ('79), 66, of Ephrata, Pa., passed away
May 23, 2023. The wife of Jeffrey S. Martin ('80), she
attended Ephrata United Zion Church and worked as an
administrative assistant for local Christian organizations.
She loved the Lord and spent time reading His Word
and praying for others. In addition to her husband, she is
survived by four daughters, including Rebekah J. (Martin
'07) Ginther and Deborah R. (Martin '11) Ihling, seven
grandchildren and three siblings.
Brendan Saunders (CBS '07), 49, of Clinton, Conn.,
died on April 8, 2023. He married the love of his life,
Mary, in 1998 and was the founding pastor of Lighthouse
Community Church in Westbrook, Conn., from 2007 to
2017. He also ministered in churches in Pennsylvania,
New York, Maryland and Connecticut. Besides his
master's degree from LBC | Capital, Brendan earned a
bachelor's degree from Clarks Summit University. He
enjoyed producing his podcast, excelling in the hospitality
industry, being involved in local politics and rooting for the
Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Yankees. In addition to
Mary, he is survived by a daughter, his mother and a large
extended family.
Pearl (Warner '62) Wenger, 82, of Jersey Shore, Pa.,
went home to her Lord on April 24, 2023. She and her
husband, the Rev. Roger L. Wenger ('63), were married
for more than 59 years. As a minister's wife, Pearl shared
in her husband's ministry in many capacities throughout
their service to the communities of Westminster, Md.,
and Halifax, Jersey Shore and Lewisburg, Pa., and was a
member of Lewisburg Bible Church. Besides her husband,
she is survived by three sons, a sister, 11 grandchildren and
two great-grandchildren.
Dolores (Newton WBC '72) Carver, 74, of Hagerstown,
Md., passed away April 17, 2023. She met her husband of
53 years, Dale R. Carver (WBC 74 & 78), at Washington
Bible College and spent 21 years teaching at Capital
Christian Academy and Grace Academy. In addition to
Dale, she leaves behind seven children, including Todd R.
Carver ('97), LBC | Capital Bible & Theology Professor Dr.
Daniel E. Carver ('09 & '11) and Timothy E. Carver ('12),
one sister, 25 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
James Hunter ('76), 71, of Mount Joy, Pa., passed away
at his home on April 10, 2023. A man of consistency and
devotion, he was married for 47 years to Sandy (Love
'74) Hunter, peddled 5,000 miles per year and ate Turkey
Hill ice cream every night. He earned an MBA from
Shippensburg University and loved cheering for his
favorite sports teams, including the Ohio State Buckeyes.
Jim was a man of motion-a vital characteristic robbed by
his ALS diagnosis. Besides his wife, Jim is survived by two
children, one grandchild, five siblings and many nieces
and nephews.
Steven James Christophel ('09), 39, of Townsend, Del.,
died July 7, 2023, in a fatal work accident. He worked in
all aspects of construction from a young age, giving him
invaluable and well-rounded knowledge of his field. Steven
was proud of his position as a top roofing salesman at
Kirkin Exteriors and was adored and respected by all his
co-workers. As a dad of three young children, Steven was
often found on the sidelines of football games, front rows
of ballet recitals or snuggled on the couch for movie nights.
He is survived by his wife, Sarah, two sons, one daughter,
his parents, one brother, two sisters, in-laws, nieces,
nephews and a tribe of friends he considered family.
Daniel Paul Allen, 67, of Hatfield, Pa., went to his heavenly
home on Feb. 4, 2023. A Corporation Member at LBC|
Capital, he earned his bachelor's degree in theological
ministry from Lynchburg Baptist College, now Liberty
University, his master's degree in religious thought
from Biblical Seminary and was awarded an honorary
doctorate from LBC. He was the senior pastor at Ephrata
Bible Fellowship Church for 23 years and had a local
radio ministry on WDAC. He also served as the director
of Pinebrook Bible Conference for seven years, then
directed Joy in Jesus ministries. For the past 20 years, he
was involved in planting churches and teaching pastors in
Southeastern Asia. He had a heart for people and sharing
the gospel and enjoyed following Philadelphia sports
teams. Pastor Dan is survived by his wife of 45 years,
Vonnette, three children, one brother, two sisters and
nine grandchildren.
