NAME: Allison Johnson ('21)
WHERE I'M FROM: Wilmington, Del.
WHERE I WORK & WHAT I DO: I am a full-time
homeschool mom (cherishing my last semester
teaching) and private tutor.
MY EDUCATION AT LBC | CAPITAL: Bachelor of Arts
in Biblical Studies
WHAT BROUGHT ME TO LBC: In my 28th year of
homeschooling and after graduating my sixth child, I
began asking God what His plan would be for me after
my seventh and youngest child graduated from high
school. God did not reveal His plan all at once but one
step at a time. It became clear to me that my first step
was to finish the degree I began at LBC three decades
prior, so that by the time my youngest child graduated
high school in 2022, I would have graduated too-
prepared and ready for the next adventure that God
is calling me to do for His glory.
CHALLENGES I OVERCAME DURING MY EDUCATION
AT LBC: Living out of state, I dedicated every Tuesday
as " LBC Day " to spend time traveling to campus, doing
homework and making friendships to get the most I
could out of my education. This was challenging due
to chronic physical battles and the responsibilities
of running a home and family as a widow. My son,
Dominic, was my trusty co-pilot who accompanied
me every week so I wouldn't have to travel alone late
at night. I can attest that God was with me throughout
the entire journey, and the only reason I persevered and
completed the degree successfully was because of the power
of Christ at work within me. God used my challenges and
weaknesses to sanctify me and to bring glory and praise
to Himself.
HOW MY LBC | CAPITAL EDUCATION IS IMPACTING MY LIFE:
I carry my LBC education with me everywhere I go. I see and get excited about God's handiwork in all of creation and
especially in His creation of humanity, which is made in His image. I am renewed in my passion to further shalom in the
places where God plants me. It is easy to become discouraged by the evils in the world, but the strong foundation of
biblical truth I received from LBC keeps my feet grounded in the hope and assurance that there is a day coming when
our sovereign God in perfect justice will right all wrongs and rescue His redeemed according to the riches of His grace.
MY LIFE'S BIBLE VERSE IS: My life's Bible verse changes depending on the stage of life I am in at the time. The Holy Spirit
always seems to bring that needed verse to mind at the perfect time in the Christian's journey, doesn't He? At this stage
of my life, I lean on the command and promise in I Corinthians 15:58- " Therefore, my beloved brethren, be ye steadfast,
unmovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, forasmuch as ye know that your labour is not in vain in the Lord "
(KJV).
THE LAST BOOK I READ WAS: " Disability and the Gospel: How God Uses Our Brokenness to Display His Grace " by
Michael S. Beates.
WHEN I HAVE 30 MINUTES OF FREE TIME, I LIKE TO: Connect with a friend to let them know I care about them or do
something nice for someone to brighten their day.
MEET MY FAMILY: I am the mother of seven beautiful children-four boys and three girls. They were all homeschooled
and are currently working in various fields, including law, healthcare, education, hospitality and Christian ministry. They
are the loves of my life.
