Dr. Ron Belsterling, Professor in the Church & Ministry Leadership Department
and Youth & Young Adult Ministry Program Director, was the main speaker for
the Adirondack Mennonite Camping Association's Family Retreat weekend
at Beaver Camp in upstate New York in September. In October, he led a
breakout session on Attachment Relationship Ministry (ARM) at the Alliance's
N.E. District Conference gathering in Lancaster. Also of note, in the fall of 2021,
his students in the Youth Ministry Strategic Programming course raised over
$3,500 via their global engagement projects. These efforts assisted ministries
working with trafficked victims and those living in poverty.
Dr. Robert Bigley, Professor in the Music, Worship & Performing Arts
Department, Director of Choral Studies and Director of The Trust Performing
Arts Center, traveled to New York City in January where he performed in an
Actors' Equity Association's staged reading of " Taken Generation. " The musical
chronicles the lives of families trapped in the Warsaw ghetto and the Polish
Christians who helped them escape. Bigley had been in the original cast of the
show in Seattle in 2002, but in this new version, he portrays the father of the
character he had originated two decades earlier! In February and March, he
also played Admiral Von Schreiber and understudy for Captain Von Trapp in
the Fulton Theatre's production of " The Sound of Music. "
Krissi Castor ('13), Assistant Professor in the Arts & Sciences Department and
English Composition Coordinator, now belongs to Phi Kappa Phi, the nation's
oldest and most selective multidisciplinary collegiate honor society, per an
invitation from Murray State University (Ky.), where she is pursuing a Doctor of
Arts in English Pedagogy.
Dr. Penny Clawson, Professor Emeritus in the Education Department, had a
" Letter to a Young Teacher " published in the February 2022 issue of Christian
Educators Journal, encouraging these new professionals to find God's grace
to be sufficient for their needs.
Dr. Ling Dinse, Assistant Professor in the Counseling & Social Work
Department, published an article in the Social Work & Christianity Journal's
special issue on contentious conversations (Spring 2022). Born out of research
conducted among LBC | Capital and Millersville University students, she is
one of the authors of " Conversations on Oppression, Racism, and Religious
Oppression: Evaluating Meaning, " which empirically examines the experience
of 196 undergraduate students enrolled in courses on human diversity as they
engaged in structured conversations as a vehicle for increasing understanding
of the lived experiences of others.
Dr. Mark Eckel, Adjunct Professor in the Church & Ministry Leadership
Department, achieved the rank of Senior Associate Faculty at Indiana
University-Purdue University in Indianapolis. He continues his Comenius
Institute work on the campus with faculty and students through teaching,
mentoring and apologetic work. He is now a regular contributor to Salvo
Magazine and publishes weekly at MarkEckel.com
Dr. William Glass ('92), Adjunct Professor in the Bible & Theology Department,
completed his first Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE) unit through Frederick
Memorial Hospital. He is now certified in one unit of CPE as of Jan. 14.
