Dr. Justin Harbin, Assistant Professor in the Education Department and
Director of the Center for Teaching & Learning, published a study titled
" Investigating Faith & Learning at Lancaster Bible College | Capital Seminary &
Graduate School " in ABHE's Biblical Higher Education Journal, exploring how
LBC | Capital seeks to educate students to " think and live a biblical worldview. "
The study aims to provide mutual benefit to similar institutions and identify
next steps and further areas of inquiry as LBC | Capital seeks to educate in a
faithfully Christian manner.
One of the music ensembles of Matthew Monticchio, Adjunct Professor
in the Music, Worship & Performing Arts Department, released its second
annual album of unique, original arrangements of Christmas classics, both
sacred and secular. With these recordings, Monkton, a jazz trio, endeavors to
bring deeper listening back to the music of the Christmas season. The album,
" Monkton Christmas, Vol. 2, " can be found on Spotify, iTunes, Bandcamp and
other platforms.
Over the past year, Gloria Moore, Adjunct Professor and Academic Advisor
to Student Council & Christian Service at LBC | Capital - Philadelphia,
organized two ongoing events that have increased staff morale and
cohesiveness. She created and implemented a monthly faculty prayer
initiative and established a forum in which students encourage professors for
the extraordinary work they do in teaching. Both of these endeavors have
forged much encouragement in staff and have cultivated new relationships
that help people during challenging personal times. The initiatives have
also resulted in positive growth and development and motivated all parties
involved, thereby further promoting optimism in all.
Dr. Randal Pelton ('83 & '21), Adjunct Professor in the Church & Ministry
Leadership Department, graduated from LBC | Capital with his PhD in Biblical
Studies in December 2021. His dissertation is titled, " Introducing Illocutionary
Intent-Infused Meaning as a Basis for Establishing Validity in Theological
Interpretation and Application Using Psalm 119 as a Test Case. "
Dr. Geoffrey Reiter, Associate Professor in the Arts & Sciences Department
and Coordinator of Literature, had a haiku published in the Winter 2022
issue of Star*Line, the journal of the Science Fiction Poetry Association.
Additionally, his poems, " Star Dust " and " Gilgamesh in Mourning, " appeared
in the Winter 2022 issue of the journal Spectral Realms.
Dr. Timothy Shea ('88), Associate Professor in the Education Department,
was a facilitator for Water Street Mission's Compelled by Love Conference in
March. The event was designed to bring together local pastors and church
leaders so they could share ideas and learn from one another as they seek
to guide the Church in loving their neighbors well.
Jessica Whitmore, Adjunct Professor in the Communication & Media Arts
Department, presented the webinar " Discovering the Effective Writer Within
You " in January for Missio Nexus, an association of North American churches
and organizations focusing on the global Great Commission.
Amanda Zuschmidt ('03), Assistant Professor in the Health & Physical
Education Department, conducted a presentation at the Commission on
Sport Management Accreditation conference in Houston in February on
" How to Write Student Learning Outcomes like a Pro. "
