ancaster Bible College celebrated 50 years of basketball
during the 2021-22 season by inviting past players and
coaches from both teams back to campus for a day
of memories, as two 50th anniversary teams were
Adam Stoltzfus
Jordan Shewbridge
honored prior to the men's and women's basketball
contests against Penn State Abington on Feb. 5.
The LBC men's basketball team capped an historic run by
winning the United East regular season championship, hosting
the conference tournament, winning the National Christian
College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Division I Midwest Regional
and advancing to the NCCAA Division I National Championship
Game.
The Chargers were dominant in conference play, going 15-1 in
the regular season and winning its final 11 games, including a
thrilling 72-57 victory over Penn State Harrisburg in the team's
regular season finale. That night, Jordan Shewbridge ('22)
powered the Chargers' offense, scoring 26 points and connecting
on eight 3-pointers. The victory clinched the United East regular
season title and earned the Chargers the right to host the
conference championship.
Shewbridge was named the United East Player of the Year and
averaged 19.8 points per game in the regular season while
scoring 30-plus points four times. His 39-point game again SUNY
Morrisville set a program record for points scored in a single
game in the Division III era. Shewbridge also finished the season
with 79 3-pointers, shooting 42.9% from beyond the arc, both
of which led the conference and ranked in the top 25 in all of
Division III.
In addition to Shewbridge, head coach Jon Mack was named
United East Coach of the Year. Grant Sareyka ('24) and Adam
Stoltzfus ('23) were named to the All-Conference Second Team.
In the United East Semifinals, the Chargers took on No. 4 Wells
College and scored 51 second-half points to secure the win.
Sareyka led the Chargers' offense with 24 points. LBC then met
Penn State Harrisburg in the championship game. After an early
deficit, Seth Beers ('24) hit two 3-pointers just before the half to
close the gap, but the Chargers could not rally back, falling 85-52.
LBC earned the top spot in the NCCAA Midwest Regionals and
hosted No. 2 Geneva. The Chargers got off to a fast start, building
a 35-22 lead midway through the first half. Geneva chipped away
at the Chargers' lead, closing within two points in the game's final
seconds, but Shewbridge converted a clutch free throw to give
LBC a 78-75 victory and a place in the NCCAA Championship.

In addition to honoring those who played
basketball over the past 50 years, the
anniversary teams were chosen by
a panel of LBC staff. These teams
reflect a collection of players who
made an impact not only on the
court but off the court as well.
They have won championships
and individual awards but also
used their platform to advance
the gospel and show Christ to
those around them.
The 10 chosen for the men's team scored a combined
15,258 points, roughly 18% of all points ever scored by the
Lancaster Bible College men's basketball team. In addition,
they have been NCCAA All-Americans, all-conference team
members, players of the year, conference champions and
national champions. They were not only great basketball
players but also men of God who are serving Him in the
Church and society.
