Dr. Geoffrey Reiter, Associate Professor in the Arts & Sciences
Department and Coordinator of Literature, wrote an article, " Does
'The Mysterious Benedict Society' Have the Right Stuff? " for the online
Christian Research Journal. His accompanying podcast also appeared
on the site. Additionally, Reiter's short story, " Two Souls on a Shore, " was
published in the 2021 issue of The Mythic Circle. His poems, " Permian/
Triassic, " " Termination Shock " and " A Word, " appeared in the Summer
2021 issue of Spectral Realms. His poem, " The Absence, " and his short
story, " A Green Shade, " appeared in the 2021 issue of Penumbra. And his
essay, " 'New Knowledge of Lost Worlds'? Edward Hitchcock's 'Sandstone
Bird' and the Poetic Exploration of Science and Faith, " appeared in the
Spring 2021 issue of Renascence.
Dr. Ed Scheuerman, Director of the Intercultural Studies Program in
the Church & Ministry Leadership Department, assumed the role of
moderator for Missio Nexus podcasts.
Dr. Timothy Shea ('88), part-time Professor in the Education
Department, led three LBC | Capital students as they presented their
research in a roundtable discussion titled, " But This Isn't Writing
Class! Learning Through Writing in Middle-Level Content Areas, " at
The Pennsylvania Council of Teachers of English and Language Arts
Conference in Harrisburg, Pa., in October. This research came from the
literacy case studies the students completed in Shea's course, Reading
and Writing Across Content Areas, a required course in the MiddleLevel
Education Program.
Dr. Mark Sooy ('21), Adjunct Professor in the Bible & Theology
Department, earned his Doctor of Ministry degree from LBC | Capital
in December. His dissertation study was titled, " Enhancing the Spiritual
Well-Being of Adjunct Faculty in Online Accelerated Higher Education. "
Amanda Zuschmidt ('03), Assistant Professor in the Health & Physical
Education Department, chaired a re-accreditation site visit for
Endicott College in Beverly, Mass., in November 2021 on behalf of the
Commission on Sport Management Accreditation (COSMA) for its
undergraduate and graduate sport management programs.
