The women's basketball team also began its
50th season on Nov. 11, playing host to Centenary
University (N.J.). The Chargers dropped a thrilling
battle with the Cyclones, falling 69-61 in overtime.
LBC picked up its first win of the season in a 81-45
takedown of the University of Valley Forge on Nov. 17.
In early January, LBC plays an exhibition match up
with Division I University of Maryland Eastern Shore-
the first-ever matchup against a Division I opponent.
The Chargers begin conference play on Jan. 8 against
Penn College and travel to face SUNY Morrisville on
Jan. 28 in a key conference matchup. SUNY Morrisville
defeated LBC in the United East Playoffs in 2019.
The women's team will also take part in the 50th
anniversary celebration on Feb. 5.
The Chargers are led by Lizzy Tilton ('22), who
entered this season with 751 points, 457 rebounds
and 279 assists. Tilton ranks sixth in career assists and
11th in career rebounds and will look to move up in
the record books this season. Jenna Dombach ('24)
returned for her sophomore season after leading the
Chargers in scoring last season, averaging 13.1 points
per game. Adalyn Steiner ('23) looks to continue to
grow her role in the offense after averaging 9.4 points
per game last season.
The Chargers are led by second-year head coach
Joy Tharrington, who's honored to lead the team
into its 50th season of competition. " I believe it is
not coincidental that God has allowed me to lead
the program during such a monumental year in our
program's history, " she said. " I consider it a privilege,
and I am reminded of all the coaches who have
come before me and laid a foundation for our
program to be where it is now. "
The LBC men's volleyball team looks to build upon its history-making
2021 season, in which the Chargers made their first-ever appearance
in the Quarterfinal Round of the NCAA Division III National
Tournament. The team opens this season in sunny Florida
on Jan. 14 to take on Webber International
University, then returns home for the Jan. 2122
Misericordia Tournament in Dallas, Pa. The
Chargers' first home match of 2022 is Jan. 26
against Stevenson University.
