ALUMNI PASSINGS
John K. Kunkle ('75), 86, of Lancaster, went home to be with
the Lord on Aug. 4, 2021. He was the loving husband of Mary Lou,
to whom he had been married for 65 years. John was a proud
Navy veteran, serving on the USS Yorktown Aircraft Carrier during
the Korean Conflict as part of Attack Squadron 135. A member
of Calvary Church in Lancaster, he enjoyed music and sang with
the church choir and the Gap Male Chorus. He also loved to
go hunting and fishing at the family cabin in Clearfield County.
He is survived by four children, seven grandchildren, 11 greatgrandchildren
and a sister.
Rev. Alfred W. " Freddie " Miller ('75), 80, of Lebanon, Pa., passed
away Oct. 31, 2021. He was born in Taunton, Mass., and was a
member of First Evangelical Congregational Church, Annville.
Besides his LBC degree, he held a Master of Divinity from the
Myerstown E.C. Seminary. He served as a pastor for over 39 years
and was stationed at St. Paul's Evangelical Congregational Church
Pine Grove/Manbeck Rock, Bethany E.C. Tamaqua, St. Paul's
York and First E.C. Lebanon. He lived a life of visiting and helping
others, while sharing the gospel of Jesus with everyone he met.
Fred was an avid vocalist and musician. He enjoyed singing in
the church choir, special events and family gatherings and was
often found with a guitar in his hands. He enjoyed the outdoors
with his children, golfing, camping, hiking, hunting and gardening.
He is survived by four children, many grandchildren, one greatgrandchild
and was preceded in death by his wife, Linda.
David Parker Dunlap ('91), 85, passed away Aug. 13, 2021. The
electrical engineer and accomplished craftsman was born in
Atlantic City, N.J., was raised in Wilmington, Del., and attended
Staunton Military Academy, where he graduated with the rank
of Second Battalion Commander. Though receiving an honors
appointment to the United States Military Academy at West
Point, he opted instead for the University of Delaware, where he
graduated in 1959. For most of his career, David worked for the
Hershey Foods Corporation, retiring in 1995. He enjoyed sailing,
traveling abroad and visiting the shore. David was a member of
All Saints Episcopal Church, Hershey, and attended St. Andrew's of
the Valley Episcopal Church, Harrisburg. Besides his wife, Patricia,
he is survived by three sons and six grandchildren and was known
for making 18th- and 19th-century-style furniture.
