2021 CHILDREN'S ACTIVITIES
Falls Park on Main Street in downtown
Greenville, SC, includes riverside paths
and a bridge which affords visitors a
premium view of the falls for which the
park is named. Follow the Swamp Rabbit
Trail to a hidden gem: the Medusa Tree,
which earned its name for the over 15 foot
tall network of slithering roots cascading
down to the path.
Gardening Hint
January is a good month to do
germination tests on leftover seeds. Place
10 seeds on a slightly damp paper towel.
Fold the paper towel and place it in a
closed plastic bag to keep it from drying
out.Leave it in a warm place (above 70
degrees) for a few days. Check seeds
in 7-10 days and count how many have
sprouted. Multiply by ten to get your
percentage sprout rate.

In the Kitchen
Hint: Flour will stick to chicken better if you pat the
chicken dry first.
BUTTERMILK CHICKEN
Ingredients:
1 cut-up chicken or 4-5 breast halves
1 qt buttermilk plus extra for soaking
1 stick butter
2 cans cream of chicken or celery soup
Flour seasoned with salt and pepper
Directions:
Preheat oven to 350⁰.
Cover chicken in buttermilk and soak for several
hours or longer. Melt butter in 9x13 pan. Dredge
chicken in seasoned flour. Place skin side down
in melted butter. Bake 30 minutes, turn, bake 15
more minutes. Combine quart of buttermilk with
soup, pour over chicken and bake 15 to 30 minutes
or until chicken is fork tender. Serve over rice or
noodles.
