; Renovations are underway at the
famed Jarrett House in Dillsboro. The
new owner bought the sagging inn at
auction in January 2021 with plans to
restore the place to its former glory.
It originally opened in the late 1800s.
The goal is to open the newly renovated
place in January 2023. Owner is seeking

; Mountain Theatre Company.
(Highlands). In 2019, Highlands Playhouse
suffered a fire in its scene shop. Then,
COVID-19 forced its temporary closure
in 2020. Now, it's back for its 84th
season with a new executive director.
The organization has expanded its
three-month summer stock season to a
six-month calendar of live theatre and

(Hayesville). You can also explore Cherokee
Heritage in Clay County. This open-air
exhibit includes a Cherokee summer house,

treasure by exploring the plentiful antique
