From the artist: " I created this painting in
traditional oils. I love to paint the many
subtle colors of snow and winter skies. I
always try to create a story with my art,
coming from a background in children's
books. I love to see that brilliant flash of
red when a cardinal appears against the
white and grey tones of a snowy winter
landscape. The smiling snowman in the
painting looks like he wants to make
friends with the
bright bird perched
on his arm. The
children sledding in
the background are
probably having
too much fun to
notice! And it's
snowing-to add to
the fun. "
