CIRCLE HOTDOGS
Ingredients:
8 skinless hotdogs
8 slices tomato
8 slices favorite kind of cheese
4 hamburger buns split and toasted
8 pickle slices
Directions:
Make 5 diagonal cuts on each hotdog and place
on a baking tray. Broil for 2-3 minutes until
brown and curly. Split and toast the bottoms and
tops of hamburger buns. Place a tomato slice on
each and top with broiled hot dog and then a
cheese slice. Place under broiler and broil until
cheese melts. Top with pickle slices and serve.

Regional Notes
In a city that boomed as a result of the
rail industry it is not surprising that
Fairview Cemetery at 3322 Melrose
Avenue in Roanoke, VA is home to three
tombstones with train carvings. The
memorials of train engineers Arthur
Spencer and Thomas Goodman are
topped by full stone replicas of steam
engines. The third, a bas-relief carving,
commemorates the heroic death of train
engineer James D. Jackson who was
killed in a train wreck in 1893 as he " stood
unmoved and sacrificed his life so that he
might fulfill his trust. "
