WHEN YOU KNOW, YOU KNOW
Addie Tuck and Paul Williams first met in the
third grade when his aunt brought him to Vacation
Bible School at her church. Three years later, they
attended middle school together, where Addie
realized her crush on Paul. They were " official "
by ninth grade, and engaged by her final year
of graduate school.
For his proposal, Paul took Addie to her
favorite restaurant, Billy's, in downtown Roanoke,
followed by a visit to The Hotel Roanoke and
Conference Center to look at Christmas trees.
They snapped a photo together with the iconic
H&C Coffee sign in the background (which
would later inspire their party favors). Addie
says Paul's proposal was " so simple and sweet! "

Addie chose vintage touches for their day, including
an antique salt and pepper shaker cake topper
that was purchased in an antique store when
Addie was a little girl. The couple was married
on her grandparents' farm, a special place where
her family members played as children, serving
as an ideal backdrop to bring family together
and create a new life together. " It was just too
perfect! " Addie says.
Addie and Paul were excited to celebrate their
wedding day on 10/10/20, " the coolest date we
could've picked for the year, " and refused to let
anything, including the rain, dampen their day.
Even Paul says he wouldn't change a thing about
their wedding, " not even the rain! "
A SPECIAL GIFT
Addie has many favorite memories of the day,
but she truly loved the time spent getting ready
with her very favorite people-her bridesmaids,
her mother and grandmother, and her cousin, all
in her grandparents' 1800s log cabin. It was there
she received a gift from her great-grandmother,
who had passed away five years earlier. She'd had
a beautiful quilt made for her wedding day, with
Addie's name embroidered in the corner. " She
was 102 years old when she passed, but left firm
directions to my mother that this quilt be given
to me on my wedding day. "
Her second favorite memory? " The first kiss! "
Addie says. " Oh, that first kiss. Let's just say he
did it right! "
