SWEET MUSIC TO HER EARS
Anna-Maria Filipovic had just moved back to
the Roanoke area when she met Salvatore " Sal "
Russo at a local downtown restaurant. She says
they were sitting across from each other at the
bar and she was immediately drawn to him, " like
in the movies! "
For his proposal, Sal set up a scavenger hunt
around downtown, leaving Anna-Maria clues at
their favorite places. She guessed each riddle before
moving on to the next, visiting five breweries
and restaurants before heading to Center in the
Square's rooftop. Sal had their favorite local artist,
Marie Anderson, compose a song about their
story, and at the end, he proposed, followed by
a dinner with their excited friends and family.

LOVE DOWN THE AISLE
Anna-Marie credits her friend Candace for her
generosity in her floral arrangements, as she did
not want the bride to stress on the big day. AnnaMaria
and Sal wrote each other love notes on the
bottoms of their shoes, reading them right before
they walked down the aisle. They also laugh at
the memory of how much fun they had on the
day - so much that they forgot to cut the cake
or toss the bouquet!
One of Anna-Marie's favorite moments was one
that gave everyone a good laugh! As the officiant
asked, " Who gives this woman away? " Sal, a
" nervous wreck, " leaned into the microphone
confidently to say " I do! " Anna-Maria's dad
looked around, confused, until he said, " No, I do! "
A CELEBRITY APPEARANCE
The newlyweds were excited for their good
friend, DJ Hines, to officiate their wedding,
especially when he began the ceremony with the
famous " Princess Bride " wedding scene quote.
Anna-Maria and Sal were married in the same
location she worked at a Boy Scout camp four
years earlier, with cabins available for guests to
spend the night, and an intimate space for the
bridal party's post-wedding bonfire.
Anna-Maria was also extremely excited to receive
a Cameo video from her celebrity heartthrob, Jesse
McCartney, wishing them all the happiness on
their wedding day, thanks to her maid of honor.
" More than half of our guests had no idea why I was
screaming because they had no idea who he was! "
