Ellie Cessac first met Robert Ayers online. He
was living in South Dakota at the time, but
happened to be in Christiansburg for work, so
their dating app matched them - meant to be!
The couple not only loves adventure, but
the great outdoors. Robert chose to propose at
sunrise during a tuna fishing trip they'd taken, 75
miles off the coast of New Jersey. " With dolphin
pictures to prove it! " Ellie adds.
THEIR FIRST OBSTACLE
Ellie and Robert's wedding day was unique in
the fact that they were married on their family
farm. Ellie chose not to have a bridal party or
many of the traditional aspects of a wedding day,

such as the bouquet toss or first dances, instead
choosing to opt out of a schedule for the evening.
She simply wanted to celebrate the day with their
friends and family. " I wanted to be able to enjoy
the natural moments, " Ellie says. " It worked out
perfectly - I was able to enjoy the entire night
without feeling rushed! "
They did, however, include a log sawing
ceremony, an old German wedding custom
that represents the first obstacle a couple must
overcome in their marriage. Working together
to overcome their " obstacle, " Ellie and Robert
showed loved ones their teamwork and willingness
to tackle whatever comes their way, together.
(Guests later signed the couples' saw as part of
their unique guestbook!
RUSTIC AND LOVELY
Ellie carried a bouquet of pretty pink and white
roses with lush greenery, added baby's breath
to her hair and made sure to wear her cowboy
boots under her gown for plenty of dancing.
The two showed their love of adventure even in
their photos, with Robert climbing a tree and
posing upside-down for a sweet kiss from his
bride. (Even their chickens got in on the wedding
day fun!) Ellie also played her violin during the
reception fun.
Guests enjoyed a pig roast, along with custom
cookies, bluegrass music and handmade bars from
the newlyweds' business, Catawba Forestry. They
also had a line dance thanks to their DJ, and Ellie
says it was one of the best moments of the night.
