HOME IS WHERE THE HEART IS
Kendra Hatchett and Chris Romeo first met
as freshmen living in the same dorm at James
Madison University, befriending each other and
dating during their sophomore year, starting with
a Chinese buffet on Valentine's Day.
After Chris and Kendra closed on their first
home in 2019, they received their keys and went
to the house to celebrate. Chris handed her
a glass of champagne and they took another
look around, discussing the excitement of their
new home and relationship. Kendra could tell
something was up as he backed up to get down
on one knee, and accidentally bumped into the
dining room chandelier! They shared a laugh as
Kendra said yes to continuing their life together.

VIRGINIA IS FOR WEDDINGS
Because Kendra and Chris met in Virginia, they
knew they wanted to marry in a fall mountain
setting. Their location offered a beautiful view
of the mountains, and their perfect November
day started with a rainbow and ended with a
gorgeous sunset. Kendra wanted her details to
be fun, fall and with pops of color to pair with
gray suits and stormy-blue bridesmaids dresses.
Small pumpkins, succulents, votive candles and
other pieces were added to the displays and tables.
Guests took home koozies that went along
with the Virginia theme, featuring words to one
of Chris's favorite bluegrass songs, " In Those
Hills I Learned to Love You, " a nod to meeting
in Harrisonburg.
TOGETHER AGAIN
Kendra's favorite memory is the dance floor
and music, without question, as she specifically
picked a dress that would be fun to dance in!
They chose fun, uplifting music for the ceremony
and cocktail hour, while celebrating the fatherdaughter
dance with " Sweet Home Alabama " and
the mother-son dance to " Sweet Child of Mine. "
As one of the first times in a while to see
family and friends, the newlyweds had so much
fun dancing and having most of all their favorite
people together. " Just being able to have our
family and friends share our celebration with
us after thinking we'd have to possibly postpone
or make it a very small group that day made it
a day to remember! " she says.
