This spring, the distillery is set to
Fourth Handle Coastal American Gin
is named for the fourth handle that once
graced guest bathrooms, enabling them
to draw restorative saltwater baths.
" We wanted to create something that
wasn't real Christmas tree-forward, "
says Yancey of the gin. Made with eight
different botanicals, it still has piney
notes, but it also offers floral notes from
rose petals, hints of citrus from orange
and grapefruit and spice from pink
peppercorns. " We came up with our own
style-a coastal American gin, " he says.
And then there's the luscious, soulwarming
Old Cavalier Bourbon Cream-
it's smooth enough to sip straight, perhaps
over ice. But you can use it in a cocktail
instead, if you please. No worrying over
such rules at Tarnished Truth.
The Tarnished Truth lineup also
includes these ready-to-drink canned
Coastal Cocktails: Vodka Grapefruit,
release Discretion, a wheated bourbon
that has been aging for about 4½ years.
" The name gives a nod to speakeasy
times in the Hunt Room, when you had
to be discreet about what was going
on, " says Yancey.
When you pay a visit to Tarnished
Truth, you can tour the distillery,
sample the spirits and pick up bottles,
RTD cocktails and merchandise at the
distillery store. You can sit a spell in the
Hunt Room, the old speakeasy space,
and gaze through the giant glass window
into the distillery as you sip cocktails
using spirits made right there. You can
also enjoy the spirits throughout the
Cavalier Hotel property.

Toast
Just the touch to enliven a classic.

INGREDIENTS
Sliced bread, 1 loaf or 1 pound (cinnamon
raisin or your favorite flavor)
4 eggs
½ cup milk
½ tsp. pure vanilla extract
½ tsp. freshly grated cinnamon, or to
taste
¹/8 tsp. freshly grated nutmeg
¹/₃ cup Kahlúa
TOPPINGS
2 TBS. pecans, toasted and chopped
finely
2 TBS. sweetened coconut, toasted
DIRECTIONS
Beat eggs in a large bowl. Stir in
remaining spices and Kahlúa. Dip bread
slices in egg mixture and cook on hot,
lightly oiled skillet or griddle until golden
brown on each side.
Plate the toast and sprinkle pecans and
coconut on each serving. Alternatively,
top with your favorite syrup or fruit.
