Chapitre BANKING I Retail banks As you may already know the word " retail " refers to an entity selling to individuals, a Business to Consumer business (B to C). Most people in the Western world use a bank account opened in a commercial or retail bank, or credit union establishment to deposit their cash and pay their bills. Individuals' accounts may be: - deposit accounts: to deposit or withdraw money; - current accounts; - checking (US) or chequing (UK) accounts: to issue checks or cheques from a checkbook; - savings accounts. A regular bank account in the English- speaking world does not always include checks or cheques which can be issued or written out to someone. When a check is deposited into a checking account, it is being " cashed " . A checking account necessarily comes with a checkbook.
