4. Stratégie binaire
Pour simplifier le profil d'indexation de l'investisseur et pour pouvoir
effectuer des stratégies par rapport à des niveaux précis d'anticipation -
essentiellement chartistes - les options binaires sont utilisées dans les
produits structurés aussi bien sur le marché des changes que sur des sousjacents
actions/indices. Le principe de base repose sur la probabilité que
l'anticipation a de se réaliser. Si cette possibilité est élevée, l'espérance de
rendement est faible. Si le CAC 40 cote aujourd'hui 7 500 points : il
existe schématiquement et approximativement une chance sur deux pour
qu'il cote au-dessus dans un mois et
inversement. En investissant
50 EUR, soit l'investisseur perçoit 100 EUR (probabilité d'1 sur 2) à
l'échéance, soit il perd sa mise initiale, en fonction de la vérification ou
non de son anticipation.
Il faut distinguer deux types d'options binaires :
- option binaire à l'américaine : l'anticipation peut se réaliser à n'importe
quel moment durant la vie du produit (options One Touch ou no
touch) ;
- option binaire à l'européenne : à une date précise, la justesse de l'anticipation
(options digitales) est constatée.
La probabilité de voir son « pari » se vérifier étant plus importante avec
des options binaires à l'américaine qu'avec des options binaires à l'européenne,
en raison d'une période de vérification permanente, la mise initiale
d'investissement est plus élevée dans un contexte américain
qu'européen.
Pour les options binaires à l'européenne, il est nécessaire de préciser à
quel moment lors de la date de constatation le niveau du sous-jacent est
arrêté. Sur le marché des changes, des fixings publiés quotidiennement
par des banques centrales servent de référence. Ainsi, la Banque centrale
européenne publie quotidiennement pour chaque jour ouvré, les cours de
28 devises contre EUR. Ces cours de change reflètent les cours de transaction
traités à 14h10, heure de Paris. De même, la Banque fédérale des
USA effectue le même constat à 10h00, heure de New York, soit 16h00,
heure de Paris. Il existe une dizaine de minutes entre le moment de
constatation et la publication pour vérifier la cohérence des informations
et la diffusion de celles-ci aux organes de presse.
