"I am a huge promoter of positivity
and find that it is infectious,"
said Impact Award winner Sarah
Shelstrom. "When you live life to the
fullest using a positive attitude, great
accomplishments are definite."
Shelstrom began in the auto
care industry at age 23, after
earning her bachelor's in business
administration with an emphasis in
marketing and advertising from the
University of Wisconsin Platteville.
"I answered a job posting for
an inside sales representative at
a publishing company, and upon
selection for the job, they assigned
me to the automotive group of
publications," said Shelstrom. "Things
happen for a reason and for that I am
grateful; I really found that this was
an industry I wanted to be part of."
In her current role, Shelstrom's
media team develops strategic
marketing plans with vendor partners
to rapidly increase sales growth
through company publications and
digital platforms. She also manages
and writes press releases for ISN and
its company-owned brands, oversees
the national advertising strategy for
ISN's company-owned brands and
helps manage ISN's two annual trade
shows, Tool Dealer Expo in Orlando
and Tool Expo West in Vegas.
Although a self-proclaimed old
soul, Shelstrom says that she and
her fellow young professionals bring
a fresh, new perspective to everyday
business, and next-level energy to

all projects. She feels that often the
first impression falsely assumed by
colleagues is that because you look
young, you must not know anything.
"You find people eager to coach and
guide you, which is great, but you're
really hoping they will offer you a mutual
level of respect out of the gates," said
Shelstrom. "I spent a lot of my early
career earning respect and building a
reputation as a resource for industry
marketing. I found that it is always
best to speak up and share ideas.
Exude confidence and get involved
in as many projects as you can."
Involved in the Auto Care Association
and Women in Auto Care, Shelstrom
has worked hard to build, maintain
and grow her network of professional
relationships, and support the
industry's future with scholarship
and mentoring programs. Her longrange goal is to stay on top of the
latest marketing and industry trends
while earning her way to CMO.
The aftermarket's appreciation for
her current contributions is clearly
evidenced by her selection as an
Impact winner, for which Shelstrom
feels honored and humbled.
"I am very appreciative and
grateful to this industry and my
network for helping me to win this
award," she said. "It says that I
have put others first, contributed
to our industry and will continue to
make an impact on our industry for
many more years to come."
