PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE UP PERISCOPE FOR A PEEK AT 2015 KATHLEEN SCHMATZ IN 2015, we will continue a steady rebranding drumbeat to our stakeholders within and outside of the industry, which we believe will enhance other endeavors in the coming year. Beyond the ongoing job of delivering quality services and benefits to our members, the Auto Care Association will focus its time and resources on several key programs. Below are just a few top priorities. Expand our visibility and influence at the federal and state government levels through government affairs and political action organization to advance the business interests of our members. Implement a strong international trade promotion program aimed at helping association members find new international business partners and markets for their products. Achieve maximum adoption of the association's e-commerce standards in the global supply chain. Establish the association as the source of information for young people on careers in the auto care industry through our new website 2 AUTO CARE INSIDER | VOL. 92 www.autocarecareers.org (see p. 8-9 in this issue of Auto Care Insider), while also enhancing member capabilities in developing the next generation workforce. Increase awareness among motorists of the benefits of regular vehicle maintenance, care and repair to help capture a greater share of unperformed service and parts sales through the "Be Car Care Aware" consumer education campaign. Telematics/the connected car is a key issue for the association. We will be working to create an open technology standard to ensure that consumers can decide themselves where the data on their vehicle is sent. Consumers should have the right to choose that information on the vehicle's performance be sent to independent service and repair shops and not be limited to the new car dealership. We see this issue as the next Right to Repair battle. Add to this short list those situations and changes coming out of left field that we can't even imagine today.
