2016 NATIONAL BIKE SUMMIT & WOMEN'S FORUM
BIKE LOBBY DAY:
A NEVADA PERSPECTIVE
T
he state of Nevada was represented
by a trio of experienced bicycle advocates at this year's Bike Lobby Day.
In approaching their Hill visits, they did
their individual background research
and also worked brilliantly as a team.
Our Summit photographer Rick Reinhard caught them in action at the office
of Senator Dean Heller. Here they share
their Lobby Day strategies and what they
brought back from this year's Summit.
Kelly Clark, President of Carson City's
Muscle Powered talks about how the
Summit is important to her in this video:

Ron Floth Bicycle Outreach Coordinator for the Regional Transportation
Commission of Southern Nevada and
Scott Jarvis, Bicycle Program Manager
for the City of Henderson talk about
their experiences.
WHAT BROUGHT YOU TO THE SUMMIT THIS YEAR?
RF: I came to the Summit this year as a
representative of the Henderson Bicycle
Advisory Committee. My main reason as
always, is to network with other bicycle
advocates and to lobby on the Hill for cycling related issues.
SJ: This year's theme was of special
interest to me, Together We Lead. As
a summit attendee for multiple years, I
always enjoy making contacts, hearing
others people stories; both successes
and failures. As a professional engineer,
bicycle program manager for local government, and an advocate, the concept of
Together We Lead rings very true to me.
I feel strongly that advocates and local
government need to continue to foster
relationships to lead the bicycle move26 BICYCLE FRIENDLY AMERICA
