NEW ADVOCACY SOFTWARE ENABLES STATE AND LOCAL ACTIONS T he League of American Bicyclists recently started using Phone2Action as its new advocacy platform. This new advocacy software will allow the League to take actions that support bicycling at every level of government. In our first use of Phone2Action we generated 1,400 emails to members of the Senate Finance Committee in 3 days to respond to a proposed repeal of the Bicycle Commuter Benefit. Phone2Action provides a great platform for advocacy at every level of government: * Easy to create actions, with two attractive microsite templates * Embeddable actions that can be integrated into any website WINTER 2018 * Action Center at http://bikeleague. org/TakeAction can accommodate an unlimited number of actions * Easy to share contact information gathered in campaigns with our member organizations If you are a state, local or individual advocate member of the League of American Bicyclists you can use Phone2Action to reach our members in your area and other people in your state. To do so, please contact our Policy Director, Ken McLeod, at ken@bikeleague.org and consult the Guide to Taking Action available at http://bikeleague.org/sites/ default/files/LeagueofAmericanBicyclists_Guide_to_Taking_Action.pdf. LEAGUE PRIORITIES FOR STATE ACTIONS The League of American Bicyclists has identified five priority Bicycle Friendly Actions that we believe all states should take in order to create a Bicycle Friendly America for Everyone. These five Actions are listed on each state's Bicycle Friendly State report card: http://bikeleague.org/content/state-report-cards. These five Actions are: * Complete Streets Law/Policy * Safe Passing Law (3 feet or more) * Statewide Bike Plan adopted in the last 10 years * 2% or more in Federal Transportation Funds Spent on Biking and Walking * Bicycle Safety as an Emphasis Area BICYCLE FRIENDLY AMERICA 25http://bikeleague.org/TakeAction https://phone2action.com/ http://bikeleague.org/TakeAction http://www.bikeleague.org/content/state-report-cards http://www.bikeleague.org/content/state-report-cards http://www.bikeleague.org/sites/default/files/LeagueofAmericanBicyclists_Guide_to_taking_Action.pdf http://www.bikeleague.org/sites/default/files/LeagueofAmericanBicyclists_Guide_to_taking_Action.pdf http://bikeleague.org/TakeAction http://www.bikeleague.org/blog http://bikeleague.org/content/bicycle-commuter-benefit
